Wetlands Birthday

SSC103 sketch

The theme for my card club this week was masculine cards, which is also the theme for this week’s challenge at The Paper Players challenge blog.  And I just love the neutral color challenge at  Sunday Stamps.  Using that color palette and the Wetlands stamp set, this is one of the cards we made.

SSC103 WetlandsI started with a Crumb Cake card base and added a layer of Soft Sky.  Next is a panel using an Early Espresso print from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack – no need to wait for Christmas for that print!.  The angled panel in Early Espresso is embossed using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder to add some texture.  Finally, the stamped panel in Very Vanilla. I started with a swoosh of Soft Sky using the Work Of Art stamp set.  The goose was stamped next in Early Espresso.  Using a mask to cover the stamped goose, I was able to add the grass “behind” the goose.  To make the mask, I simply stamped the image on a scrap and quickly cut it out – it didn’t need to be very exact.  I used a post-it note to hold it in place while stamping the grass.  Finally, the sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso.

  1. What a great masculine CAS card and so soothing in these colours! Love the subtle pattern of the DSP too for added interest. Thanks for joining my masculine challenge over at The Paper Players this week!
