Christmas, Stamp It Group Blog Hop

Team StampIt Blog Hop – Christmas

Welcome to the Team Stamp It Blog Hop!  We’re all excited to share our Holiday projects with you.  As I’m sure you are aware, there are not as many days as usual between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year so I hope you will find inspiration you need to get those holiday projects going.

I know many people send out digital versions of Christmas greetings, but I enjoy sending a handmade card.  It warms my heart hearing nice comments from those who receive them.  Today, I’m sharing one using the Christmas Gleaming bundle. The metallic touches in the Designer Series Paper add a nice holiday glitz.

My intention was to share a card that could be easily and quickly mass produced for everyone on my card list.  This one is close, other than a bit of fussy cutting.

Card Details:

  • Start with a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Night of Navy card base,  scored at 4-1/4″
  • Add a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock
  • Cut a 1-1/2″ x 5″ piece from one design of the Brightly Gleaming DSP
  • Cut a 1-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece from another design of the Brightly Gleaming DSP
  • Cut a piece of Copper Foil using the largest circle in the Stitched Shapes Dies
  • On a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, stamp two of the ornaments from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set using Night of Navy ink and the sentiment using Merry Merlot ink.
  • Punch out the ornaments with the Gleaming Ornaments punches and adhere to the copper circle
  • Fussy cut around the sentiment and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Stamp the holly leaves using Jet Black Stazon ink on Shimmery White cardstock
  • Using an Aqua Painter watercolor the leaves using Mossy Meadow ink and the berries with Merry Merlot ink
  • Fussy cut the holly leaves – this is really the only part of the card that takes a bit extra time

This layout can easily be used with the various papers in the bundle as they all coordinate beautifully, allowing me to make many cards from one pack of the DSP.  Here is a different version of the card using the colors Pretty Peacock and Copper.  I colored the berries on this card with the Celestial Copper Delicata Metallic Ink using a dry Aqua Painter.

Very Merry Christmas

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today’s CAS card was inspired by the Inspiration Challenge #252 at Hand Stamped Sentiments. The blue in the sketch just popped for me!  The color combination I used for this card is Pacific Point, Cucumber Crush, and Real Red.

The trees are stamped in Cucumber Crush.   To better define the trees, I inked the solid image from the Festival of Trees stamp set in Pool Party and “stamped off” once before stamping over each tree.  To add a little sparkle to trees, I added a couple of Gold Glitter stars and used Wink of Stella on the red ornaments.  I used the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder to give some texture to the Whisper White base layer.

Pretty Pines

Today I’m sharing a card I made using the lovely Pretty Pines thinlets and inspired by the Hand Stamped Sentiments #251 sketch challenge.

I started with a Whisper White card base and added the diagonal stripe from the Presents & Pinecones DSP layered onto a piece of Emerald Envy card stock.  The sentiment is from the Better Together stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I added the elements cut with the Pretty Pines thinlets and a bow made with Linen Thread.

The Gifts of Christmas

This is a card I CASE’d from the current Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog, using the Your Presents and Versatile Christmas stamp sets.  I started with a Whisper White card base & adhered strips of the holly design from the Season Of Cheer DSP.  The sentiment and present use the Mossy Meadow & Cherry Cobbler colors in the holly.  To make the present, I embossed in white the diagonal print from the Your Presents stamp set onto Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I cut the gift out and tied it up with gold ribbon.  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig tool, I stamped the rest of the sentiment inside the card.

After I had this card made, I noticed that the current challenge over at Pals Paper Arts is a color challenge using these colors!  Be sure to stop over there to see all the other pretty cards.
