Occasions Sneak Peek - Karen Page

I started with one of the designs from the Going Places DSP pack for the base layer.  Then I added a watercolor wash of Lost Lagoon to a piece of watercolor paper and a few splatters using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  Using the Stars Framelits, I cut a star from another piece of Going Places DSP, and a smaller star in Delightful Dijon.  The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the 1″ circle punch.  I did some paper piercing on the smaller star and added some swirls of Linen Thread.

I also added a sentiment inside the card which is stamped over the globe image.

Sweet Treats! – A Gift Box

This week’s challenge at SUO Challenges is Sweet Treats! The challenge is to make a project – card or other paper crafted project – with sweets as a theme.  I recently found instructions on how to make this cute faceted box which holds 3 Ghiradelli chocolates.  Although it looks complicated to make, Sam Hammond Donald over at Pootles gives a great tutorial, making it not at all complicated.

SUO123 treat box

This box is just the right size for other small gifts, such as jewelry.  I made a coordinating card, placed a pretty bracelet in the box, and had a nice birthday gift for a dear friend.

SUO123 - treat boxHere’s the details:

The box is made with the Irresistibly Yours DSP from Sale-A-Bration.  I’m so happy to see the Color Me Irresistible Speciality DSP in the new 2015-2016 catalog!  I sponged the entire paper in Soft Sky ink and followed the tutorial for the box.  The flower is from the Crazy for You Stamp set with the bottom layer punched out with the coordinating Flower Medallion punch and the other layers cut by hand.  They are attached to the lid with a retired brad.

The card is CASE’d from the Spring Occasions Catalog.  Again, I sponged the Irresistibly Yours panel in Soft Sky and layered it onto a Soft Sky base.  The sentiment and frames are from the Because You Care stamp set and stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz.  The little banners are Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride.

With Heartfelt Sympathy

ssc101tssc362I was needing inspiration for a sympathy card and thought the color challenge at Sunday Stamps  and the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge at Techno Stamper would be perfect.

To make this card, I used Pool Party for the card base.  I added a layer of Sheer Perfection Vellum and a piece of 5/8″ Basic Gray Satin Ribbon.  To make the panel, I used a piece of Naturals White card stock layered onto Bermuda Bay.  Using the Summer Silhouettes stamp set, I stamped the flowers and leaves in Memento Black, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party. The sentiment is from the retired hostess set, Simply Sketched.  A small pearl was added to the center of the flower.

I’m so glad Summer Silhouettes is included in the 2015-2016 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog.  It is one of my favorites.

Be sure to check out the other lovely cards at the two challenge sites.
