WWYS #157 – Floral Statements

This week, the What Will You Stamp? challenge features the Floral Statements stamp set.

I’m so excited to have been invited to be their guest designer this week!   This is such a beautiful set.  If you have it, please consider joining in this challenge.

Now, here is my creation:

WWYS #157 - Floral Statements

First, I embossed the Hello image in black onto Shimmery White cardstock.  Then I needed to choose my coloring medium and decided it was time to experiment with the Brusho Crystal Colours.  Now I’m hooked on these vibrant colors!  It was so fun to mix the colors until I had the shades I wanted to use for this card.  I mixed Brilliant Red & Gamboge for the flowers and Prussian Blue and Yellow for the leaves.  After coloring the flowers and leaves, I added a light wash of Soft Sky in the background.

The Wood Textures DSP provides a nice neutral background for this beautiful image.  I wanted to add just a touch of embellishment, so I tied Linen Thread below the image and added a few scallops cut from another piece of Wood Textures DSP.  The scallops were cut using the basket Thinlet from the Window Box Thinlets set.  Last, I added the small label also embossed in black.

Thanks for stopping by and please see what the talented WWYS design team has created over at the What Will You Stamp? challenge blog.

Belated Birthday with Bird Banter

One of life’s aggravations is to miss sending a birthday card to a friend.  Well, here is a cute little belated birthday card for that occasion.

In my case, the little birdie was Facebook :)  I still prefer to send a birthday card to close friends, so I hope the birthday girl will forgive me for these late wishes.

For this card, I started with a Bermuda Bay card base and added a strip of Pick A Pattern DSP.  The stamped images are all from the new Bird Banter stamp set in the 2018 Occasions catalog.  To get the hat setting on the parrot’s head and the branch behind the parrot’s tail, I used the masking technique.  To create my masks, I first stamped the party hat and the parrot onto a couple of sticky notes and fussy cut them out.  I stamped the party hat first on the Whisper White panel.  Next, I adhered the party hat mask over the stamped image and then stamped the parrot.  Then the parrot was covered with it’s masked image and the branch was stamped.  After removing both masks, I used my Watercolor Pencils to color the images and blended the colors using an Aqua Painter.

Celebrating You – Sunday Stamps 170

Happy Sunday!

Today, I’m sharing a card inspired by the sketch from the Sunday Stamps challenge blog.

This is a quick and easy card with the focus on Stampin’ Up!’s Pick A Pattern Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Since the patterns within each package of DSP all coordinate, it was just a matter of choosing the two I wanted to use for this card!   Using the Layering Square Framelits made it easy to cut the squares from the pretty flower print. The sentiment is from the new Perennial Birthday stamp set which is available in the 2018 Occasions catalog.  After stamping it in Basic Black ink and adding a few little flowers in Flirty Flamingo, I used the Layering Circle Framelits to cut it out.  That is layered onto a Flirty Flamingo circle cut out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The final layer is a black scalloped circle cut out again using the Layering Circles Framelits.  This layered circle is attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

Today I’m sharing a card my Coffee & Cards group made this week using products from the Painted with Love Suite in the 2018 Occasions Catalog.

The Painted with Love DSP is so pretty with lovely color combination and gold accents.  For this card, I started with a Whisper White base and added a panel of Rich Razzleberry.   Next, I added a banner cut from one of the DSP prints.  The heart image and sentiment are both from the Sure Do Love You stamp set and are cut out using the coordinating framelits.  The heart is stamped in Calypso Coral and the sentiment is embossed in gold.

You’re My Valentine

I hope your new year has started out well!  I’ve enjoyed some extra time to play with a few of the beautiful new products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs.

I often struggle with where to start on a new card and find that online challenge blogs are a great source of inspiration.  Today I’m sharing a card inspired by Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge #280.

You're My Valentine - HSS #280

This card features a few products from the Painted with Love product suite in the Occasions catalog.  The Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper is absolutely gorgeous!  Each sheet has gold foil accents on one side and brushstroke imagery on the other.  This card makes use of both.   The gold foil doily pairs so nicely with the DSP.  Notice the tinsel trim behind the heart?  What a fun way to add some bling.  The sentiment is one from the Sure Do Love You stamp set.  It coordinates with the heart image in the same set.

Watercolor Thank You

Today I’m sharing a pretty little fall thank you card.  I have been playing around with the watercolor technique using acrylic blocks and this is my first card using that technique.  The colors are not traditional fall colors, but I really like them behind the copper foil leaf.

To make this card, I started with a piece of watercolor paper roughly 3.5″x3.5″.

Using the Island Indigo and Crushed Curry Ink Pads, I inked up acrylic block D.  It is best to start with the lighter color as you will overlap the two colors.

Next, I spritzed the block until it was completely wet.  This is the part that took me some practice to know how much water was needed.  I also found that I had better results when I held the spritzer about 6″ above the block.

Then I carefully turned the block over and pressed it onto the Watercolor Paper, letting it set for a few seconds for the paper to absorb the ink.  After carefully lifting the block off, I used the tip of a paper towel to soak up just a little bit of the ink in places that may have puddled up.

As it dries, the colors will blend together where they overlap, creating the pretty green.

When it was completely dry, I very lightly spritzed it again, let the drops set for a second or two and then blotted with a paper towel, leaving the fun water spots.

I used the largest square of the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut the background.  That was layered onto a scalloped square of Island Indigo.  I embossed the sentiment in copper on a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and added the watercolored square.  Using the Colorful Seasons stamp set and coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlits, I added the copper leaf and smaller Crushed Curry leaf.

I’ll be entering this in the The Paper Players Challenge #362 featuring a harvest theme.

Thanks for stopping by!
